I think had they kept the more vertical tailgate (and kept it a split one) there would be less complaints from the tried and true on the changes in the design. I think this will be a big hit for LR, just not necessarily with the current LR faithful. Hopefully a new Defender will bring the rest of us along. If I was in the market with little experience with an LR truck, the Disco 5 would certainly be attractive enough to bring me into the showroom.- Longhorn

We will certainly see what the final product looks like, however they could have "updated" the model with all the stuff you feel is necessary at the given price point without losing it's uniqueness. You've mentioned the price a number of times as if that is the explanation for abandoning the more utilitarian design. Have you priced out a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited? A Rubicon will cost you $50-60k. They come with none of the "creature" amenities that some feel must be included in a $60k truck...- Longhorn

Completely agree and will be interesting to see what it looks like in real life. Hopefully the new Disco will retain a somewhat taller profile.
