    Showoff Your LR4

So I gave tiresbyweb a call this morning. Although the website says they're in stock, they confirmed the shortage of Nokians across the nation and that they've been out of stock in the size I want (255/55R20) for a few weeks now. :( Thank you for suggesting I try, though! Enjoy the fresh dump...

    Showoff Your LR4

@roverman Thanks, but I've tried everywhere. There's a shortage of Nokians across the country, so a huge batch is being imported from Finland and should arrive by mid-December. Fingers crossed that is the case because trudging through snow/ice with all-terrain 285s has been pretty interesting.

    Showoff Your LR4

Completely stock. Though, I have toyed with the idea of removing just the rear mufflers for a slightly more aggressive growl. I know removing the center muffler makes a big difference, but I think I'd prefer a little more subtlety. Guess there's only one way to find out! ;) Sent from my iPhone...

Change out differential and transfer case fluids

I'm looking forward to changing my LR4's t-case, front diff, and rear diff fluids during New Years weekend (35k miles). I'll report back with how the fluids look. Given that it's lived the majority of its life in L.A. traffic, I'm expecting them to be a bit dirty... I also plan to have my Rover...

    ProSpeed slider install...

To be fair, the extra weight affects much more than just fuel economy and acceleration. The life of wheel bearings, bushings, air struts, etc. are diminished to some degree. So it all comes to whether the extra weight protecting the compressor is worth extra wear and tear on many items ($$$).

    ProSpeed slider install...

@Perseus Thanks for posting that underside pic with your Voyager slider and compressor cover. I'm planning on going with the Voyager setup as well, and weight is one of my concerns. On the technical trails I intend to tackle, just being aware of where the compressor is located is enough...

We did just fine. Just think of the extra $30 we paid as expedited shipping. ;)

    LR5 Release Updates?

The black lacquer finish in my father's RRS is very pretty until you see the thousands of hairline scratches and smudges near the cupholders. I wish there were other tasteful finishes LR could use in those high traffic areas... According to LR's website, the Discovery has 11.18" of clearance...

    LR5 Release Updates?

@umbertob As the others have said, thanks for snapping all of those detailed pics! Here are a few spec comparisons between the LR4 & Disco 5. I included fuel economy specs for the RRS (since LR hasn't released official numbers for the Disco) because they'll likely be similar, given that they're...

Aux lights on the Front bunmper

My idea regarding the auxiliary light switch dilemma (which I'm not sure is possible) is to connect them to the fog light switch, but program it to have multiple functions. For example, a quick press turns fogs on/off, and a 3-second press turns aux lights on/off. This would allow you to run the...

    Showoff Your LR4

It totally has been too hot. We were supposed to get snow in Telluride two nights ago, but instead got a frosting on top of the mountains. At least we've been able to squeeze in some last minute hiking though, in freaking November! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Comparison Test Request

Take a look at this video (skip to 04:18). It's a good representation of how LR4s (without the HD package) can perform off-road. There's no question that an LR4 with low-range would be the ideal choice for various types of steep and technical terrain, but since they now have 8-speeds, I'll...

    2017 Discover; Diesel or Gas?

I just want to clarify that diesel is better for the environment than gasoline. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    2017 Discover; Diesel or Gas?

I've also driven Audis for years, and low-rpm turbo grunt is what put a grin on my face. I also thought my diesel Audi loaners were fantastic fun compared to ones with the supercharged 3.0 and 2.0T motors. Driving these cars near redline an excessive amount is silly, so obtaining full power at...

    2017 Discover; Diesel or Gas?

I'd absolutely choose the diesel. Honestly, if I had a choice between a 3.0 TD6 or the 5.0 V8 in my LR4, I'd choose the TD6. Why? Range, fuel consumption, and ability to chip the TD6. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

new 18" wheel from Lucky8 offoad?

That won't dissuade me from my opinion on spacers, unless you can back it up. I've run aggressive spacers (yes, properly mounted/torqued) on two of my cars, and dealt with premature bearing failure. Not sure if LR's bearings are indestructible in comparison to Audi's, but in my mind, having...

new 18" wheel from Lucky8 offoad?

http://www.lucky8llc.com/products/lr4-18x8-steel-wheel-set-of-4 Sweet! Although they're run-of-the-mill steelies, I'll take all the options we can get! I'd probably be more inclined to shave the calipers than throw on those fat daddy 30mm spacers, simply for the sake of sparing my poor wheel...

    Supercharger for 5.0L V8

I tow to/from Telluride & Boulder, and have taken both of those routes. My '13 does very well on each of those climbs and likes to hang out in 3rd & 4th gears. Monarch Pass on 50 is where it works the hardest, but still does quite well. I actually prefer taking the 285 & 50 route more than...

    Supercharger for 5.0L V8

I don't know about you folks, but I'd totally love an extra 50lb/ft of torque. [emoji6] I could live without the extra HP, though. I do some heavy-duty towing (~6600lbs) in the summertime here in CO, at high elevation. One of the passes I go over is well above 11k feet, and the LR4 does really...

    IID Tool updated current sites?

I bought an IIDTool (BT) from Island4x4 yesterday for $458.44 (£365). They raised the price from £345 to £350 very recently. Shipping was £15, so it looks like yesterday's exchange rate was £1 = $1.256... Hope they don't jack the price up again for those of you still on the fence! Sent from...

    LR5 Release Updates?

I don’t know about you folks, but I love having to manhandle our tailgates and seats. The new electric tailgate and seats will indeed be very convenient for mommies on the go, though! ;) For the record, I’m not whining about those new features—they were inevitable additions for obvious reasons...

    LR5 Release Updates?

One thing that came as a surprise after its release was me having a deeper appreciation for my LR4 than before.
