    Auxiliary chain and sprocket change

You'll also need the fuel pump timing tool when you realign the auxiliary chain. https://a.co/d/55sgKqu You'll also need a crankshaft puller/installer for the LR4 engine. You might be able to remove it would a loaner tool, but re-installing is going to be an issue without the proper tool...

    Auxiliary chain and sprocket change

I just replaced the auxiliary tensioner without dropping the oil sump. It was annoying, but not too difficult. I was doing the timing as well, so the car was already apart. It REALLY made me wonder why the LR engineers didn't factor in an access hole to remove the bolt. Removal 1. I made a...

It's time for a rear cross-over pipe talk. What to do about the backorder?

Okay...just had success at my local (Carlsbad, CA) LR dealership. The parts counter x-ref to the same part, but Jaguar part number. Here are the details: Part No.: AJ814053JB Description: Header - M

    Auxiliary chain and sprocket change

Thanks for sharing your experience. I discovered that my aux chain was loose while doing the timing chains. I almost set the truck on fire when I read the oil pan had to be removed. I managed to remove the tensioner with a little creative tooling. I have the crankshaft & cams locked, and the...

Timing Chain loose in the wrong place?

Hi @djkaosone yes!...I'm just north of you in Oceanside. When I started researching this job I found your post. It has been very helpful, thanks for taking the time to document the process. My original plan was to use the easy method to replace the tensioners and guides. After doing the full...

Timing Chain loose in the wrong place?

The "easy way" is no exaggeration! Just burned an additional 4.5 hrs to complete the full teardown.

Timing Chain loose in the wrong place?

Thanks for the advice. I bought the timing chain toolkit, which includes the injector removal tool. I'm going to circle back and do the full repair. I do NOT want to do this twice. :)

Timing Chain loose in the wrong place?

Does the #1 cylinder need to be at TDC for doing just the guides and tensioner? I’m thinking I should change course and spend the extra time to do the repair according to the shop manual.

Timing Chain loose in the wrong place?

Yes, I installed the flywheel locking tool per the LR repair manual. I made sure the crank wouldn’t move before removing the crankshaft pulley. That said, I haven’t removed any internal components, only down to the timing covers. Even if the crankshaft wasn’t locked I don’t see how the chain...

Timing Chain loose in the wrong place?

I recently purchased a 2015 LR4 with what I suspected was a timing chain issue. I just finished the teardown using the 'easy way' method. The chains are definitely loose. However, the chain is tight against the tensioner, and loose against the static guide (see video). With my basic...
