Kind of funny considering 2003-2005 is when B.M.W. was running LR into the ground (theoretically). Where I work, we actually get more problem-children with bigger-type jobs off of these model years.
I would recommend that you don't look at just the car but look up the problems each one can...
Might take this to someone to have it diagnosed... Usually only a small fee in comparision to driving it and running the risk of causing major problems.
Sounds like you could have a lose connection. When I've had things of similar problems, for a quick fix sometimes you can use some vasoline and put on there to see if it makes the connection with that.
Vasoline is an awesome dielectric component. I actually put it on my battery terminals...
