Amsoil or Royal Purple
I used redline in diffs and could tell a smoother sound from the diffs. A well lubricated feel if you would. I used the Rover Oil in the transfer case and use Amsoil in the engine. Reduced engine performance
By no means am I an expert but judging from what you said and the fact you replaced the thermostat, I do know that engine temperature is within the perameters of reduced engine performance.
