    The dealer seems adament that the crank sensor is not the problem. They say that their diagnos equip would tell them if that's what my issue was related to. Is there any way to check the sensor other than what the dealer is telling me.

    2001 Discovery II 135,000 miles. This happened the first time a year ago. It was a hot day Disco was running fine. Stopped at the store came back out would turn over but not start. The engine was turning over fine but you could tell it was as if something had been turned off so to speak...

    Symptoms of a head gasket failure Its never been very low. Its right now and has never been lower than at max a inch or a couple of centimeters below the full. However I have recently or about 500 or so miles ago had the thermostat replaced by a quailfied Rover Mechanic.

    Possible Head Gasket Failure Symptoms I do have a very small coolant leak on the lines or possibly the gasket going into the mass air flow sensor. I am sure that's the only one. Could this air in the system lead to an over heat situation. Thanks very much to all for this help.
