    LR5 Release Updates?

I asked my sales contact for information last week, as I need a full-third row SUV with good offroad capability by the end of the year. Here is his reply: Hi Martin. Just picked up your email from last night. The latest from Land rover to the dealers is: The new LR4, Discovery, will be...

    random damaged tyre

I destroyed my OE Mich Lat's like that from the tires spinning so much climbing long gravel ascents. As said, going to AT's - even Pirelli ATR's, made a huge difference in not only traction by also durability.

RR SC went in Limp mode towing my boat

I had the same thing happen to my RRS SC after a hard day of offroading and blasting up a slope at 80+ mph to get around unsavories on the way home. No lights on the dash, just reduced engine performance. Turned out to be related to the cooling for the superchanger, and quite common. My LR...

Commuting with my LR3 / Looking at alternatives

I honestly was not even thinking of an Accord until I read the about it in C&D's Top 10. My ideal would be an Suby Outback XT or Turbo Diesel in the current model, as the regular Outback does not have enough power for me. I also looked at the Mini JCW Countryman, but I could not see the...

Commuting with my LR3 / Looking at alternatives

My commute changed too, and I'm now commuting from Marin to San Leandro - 60 miles round trip with lots of stop and go and backstreet rallying through homeless camps in Oakland and Emeryville. I loved my Sport Supercharged, but I never really had enough headroom and the fuel costs was...

LR3/LR4 or the Range Rover off road?

They both are (were) completely stock with the exception of AT tires; albeit, the LR3 had 265/60-18 Yoko AT-S's, so slightly bigger diameter/width. Neither has (had) the electronic rear locker, which I really wish they had. I think the rear locking diff would have helped the LR3 not to utilize...

LR3/LR4 or the Range Rover off road?

Ha - I read it but declined to react. From my own experience driving both an LR3 and a FFRR with both the OE all-seasons and AT's on the family coastal cattle ranch is that the FFRR has always seemed more capable and definitely more comfortable. Two areas in particular: 1) A very rocky stream...

If you have 18" wheels the Nokian WRG2 is worth looking at.

    Octane used in 2013 LR2?

It is a highly tuned TURBO 4-cylinder, and even if the electronics will adjust to prevent knocking and pinging on the lower octane gas - high stress and/or hot temperatures will take their toll. Gas mileage is probably lower with 87 or even 89 too - definitely performance.

    Talk me Down !!!

I had a GX470, which I liked, but it had a few flaws that drove me nuts, some of which have been alleviated in the newer models. My big beef with the LC is that for such a big truck it has so little room inside - as stated. At 6'3.5" I do not have enough head and leg room in the front, and...

LR3 Tire Wear Class Action Settlement

I burned through a set of the Goodyears to the cords in the first 3K miles on my early 2006. Had the dealer check the alignment at 1.5K, as the truck handled horribly (tramlining, irratic steering), but they said it was "fine". Could not produce the alignment sheet, however, - very suspicious...

    New Tires

I replaced the 19" Lat Tour HPs on my wife's RR with the Pirelli ATR's , and have about 10K miles on them. They exceed the Lat's in dry/wet grip, noise and ride. They, of course, have much better traction off-road. Have not had them in the snow yet. My wife would kill me if I put noisy AT's...

Tire Load Question - SL vs XL & <111-112?

When I had my LR3 I wanted to put 265/60-18 Yoko AT-S tires with a 110LI. My LR3 was leased ($535 a month with $0 down - good ole days). I needed the tires to be LRUSA OK, as these are the tires I would return the vehicle with. They said as long as they had a LI of 110 or greater, a HR speed...

    Comp PD1880 hubcaps?

Looks awesome umberto. Apologize if I missed it, but I assume that those are 275/60-18's? I had the 265 Yoko's on my prior LR3, and thought they were a great all-around AT.

Range Rover Getting V6 Supercharged - LR Dropping V8s

I'm in that camp too. As much as I really want a new LR4 with the V8, I would go nuts if the 2015 ends up being 800lbs lighter, with vertically adjustable lumbar support and the 3.0 liter diesel. With CAFE coming, as noted, they kind of have too. I'm enjoying my 2008 RRS S\C more than I thought...

    J.D. Power dependability survey, ouch

I'm always skeptical of this data. My anedotal data. My 2007 Cayman and 2009 Cayenne GTS both had numerous minor and major issues. When I gave back the Cayman at the end of the lease, there were two specific structural issues that could not be resolved - 1) Rear hatch thunk and 2)rear b-pillar...

    Brake Metrics...

I end up Manually shifting both of my Rovers and past LR3, as I have manual transmission withdrawal symptoms, and I like being in the right gear for the particular situaion. When going downhill, I place it in a gear that keeps the RPMs at about 2.5K - 3K RPMs, and use the occasionally brakes to...

The Best LR3 All Season/Terrain Tire Thread of 2013

Another vote for Pirelli ATRs, granted they are not that aggressive for an AT, but they have better road manners - really quiet - than the Michelin Lat's they replaced. They also are the best tires for hydroplane resistance that I have experienced. Good traction on dry or damp dirt/gravel, but...

    2013???

The brick is actually great if you surf, as you can store it your wetsuit key pocket. I just rinse it off when I get out. Also good for putting in your backpocket when biking, which has destroyed a few apparently not too waterproof phones.

Replacement Tires 19 inch - Suggestions & Question

If you do not want an all-season, but a great all-around tire you can also consider the Pirelli ATR. It is better on the road than the OE Michelins that it replaced (ride, noise, dry/wet grip and hydroplanning), and obviously offroad. Very composed for an AT tire;albeit, not a very aggressive...

    Larger tires on LR2??

You can also go down to 255/55-18's. Good selection of AT's, and will match the stock diameter (29") Won't have the issues with weight with the wheel diameter decrease, but they will be slightily wider.

    Stuck.....

With the 2006 LR3 OE wheels there was absolutely no issues with rubbing or modifications needed. Offhand from years of perusing these and other boards, there are no issues with rubbing until you go past a 265 and/or a 31" tire with OE wheels. Afternmarket wheels differ with width and/or offset...

Why not many LR3 in the marked

I imagine there are not a lot of 2009's. As I recall, they built a lot of 2008's that ended up being sold at massive discounts; which, caused them to build less 2009's. The 2009's also had configurations that reflected the recessionary times.

    Stuck.....

I would not go to the 255/55-18's as that is an inch less than stock (29" vs. 30"). You can also go up to a 265/60-18, which I use to run with Yoko AT-S's. These have the best road manners for a more aggressive and dirt -biased AT tire that I have experienced.
