when does it happen? Is the electrical system loaded (light on, heater on, wipers, etc)
is it wet out when it happens? could very well be the vss or an electrical issue
Sounds like you know how to get to the sensor. Replacing it is very easy. Altho the sensor has a two wires when the bonnet is closed the purple/white wire goes open
when closed the purple/white touches the black wire. Could leave it unpluged and see if
the indicator goes out.
As far as the eas complaint. There could be another problem for your car there are 3 rubber mounting bushings. They in time get worn out. They are a cheep fix and very easy to replace yourself. The other could be the box they mount to. Carefully inspect that for
