    Building a double cab

You want me to admit how much I've spent?! What if my woman reads this! I paid a total of about US$4,100 for the two trucks I bought. I have about that much more into the build at this point, but I went in knowing I was buying a legal 1984 chassis, a good 300TDi drivetrain and not...

    Building a double cab

You can build it onto an older chassis with newer parts and keep the older reg. That's what I'm doing. No reason to pay to ship it twice, just get it built and bring it in.

    Building a double cab

Where are you? I assume USA from $'s quotes? That's silly money. You could order all the parts to build a 110 DoKa from Rovers North for less than that. Find a decent 1985 or older Defender 110 outside the US and import it for your base. Pay no more than $5,000 for it. Start chasing parts...

How many defenders are in the united states

Other than the official NAS trucks, probably another few hundred, maybe a thousand. Lots of Series though.

    Ryders Defender Page

Looks like you're going through some of the same fun as I am. My 110... Not sure I understand your comment about the 300TDi being a "nightmare" to work on? It's about as simple as engines get.

    defender transfer box and axles

Ultimate? For what use? The conventional wisdom says the R380 is the strongest manual box. What you will need to fit one depends on the engine to which you want to bolt it. Newer is better on xfer boxes. Stock low range ratios are all the same, high range ratio standard Defender is...

    Replacing Head Gaskets

You should get a shop manual. Even a Haynes will be cheap insurance if you have never cracked open an engine before. It's not rocket science, but it's a bit more complex than changing a flat tire.

    Defender Cruise Control?

The hand throttle parts are all available from Craddocks or the like. On a TDi it mounts below the center dash, the spot below the steering column is for the choke for carb'd petrol trucks.

    defender maintaince

Rovers North is the main source for OEM LR parts in the US. Google them. They can get any Rover part, bring your wallet. British Pacific is also a good source, and has a reasonably good supply of parts and often better prices than RN. There are a couple of US eBay sellers that are good for...

    Defender 110 Resale Value Risk

You're definitely not familiar with the Defender.

    Defender 110 Resale Value Risk

"Investment" and "Car" are two words that have emptied the wallets of many a punter. Ask anyone who bought a Ferrari in the 90's... Chances are a new Defender will be very expensive in the US, and it will be targeted at the luxury car market, with more electromagic controls, power mod cons...
