Valve Cover Gasket / Front Timing Cover Questions

I did mine myself. Hardest part is probably getting the fuel rails off of the injectors, then pulling the injectors. If your going that far, replace the spark plugs as well. Besides the puller, you will also need to get the injector seal sizing tool (amazon). Theres a couple of good threads in...

Everything about tires for LR4/ LR3 with 18" wheels

I believe that manifold is buried down next to the engine/transmission on the passenger side in a PITA place to reach. Theres a sensor screwed into it, that if it goes bad will let your truck run for a min before it dies. I had a local dealer replace my sensor as I could not reach it from...

    Camshaft Position Sensor Code P0390

Just to close the door on this issue. Drove it for a year with the CEL on. Rear crossover finally went at 157K. Had to replace that, then decided to do the front crossover while coolant was drained. No surprise the front was already starting to break after 4 years. Anyway, cleared the CEL by...

    Coil electrical connector removal (x8)

Slide the white locking tab and the plug will come right off. I used a very small flat head and placed it down in that small curved spot to assist with moving it as I was afraid to break the white tab because of age.

Is it a leaking passenger side valve cover gasket?

The sides near the exhaust manifold get hard and brittle and start leaking. That far into it, I'd replace both passenger and drivers valve cover gaskets. May as well do the spark plugs and PCV on the passenger valve cover too since that will go soon at some point Remove the plastic...

Question for anyone who has done the Valve Cover Gaskets on their V8 LR4

Did not pull air conditioning lines. Removed bolts from brackets holding them in place to help them move a little. Drivers side rear injector is the hardest one to get out as its hard to get perfect alignment with the injector removal tool.

Pulling injectors for valve cover gasket, can I avoid it?

Pull injectors. Drivers side rear most was the hardest/awkward. Make sure you do not pinch the gasket! Creates a vacuum leak if the gasket is not on right and throws codes. I got to do my passenger side twice! Did it in less than a hour the second time LOL.

    Camshaft Position Sensor Code P0390

I'll see if there is enough slack in the harness and swap connectors. See if the problem follows.

    Camshaft Position Sensor Code P0390

I checked connectors when I got back home (removed, inspect, reseat) cleared codes and it came right back. Everything appears seated and not loose. I guess Im just lucky :)

    Camshaft Position Sensor Code P0390

I recently recently replaced my drivers side valve cover gasket myself. Test drove right after for about 15 min with no CEL. Stop off at a store and come back out and now there was a CEL. Code reader said P0390. Could not find anything on here for that specific code, but online I found: Camshaft...

Do you know this Check Engine code: P2406?

I did. The fix was to replace this part: https://www.roverparts.com/emissions-control/advanced-evaporate-loss/WTR500030/ Its wedged into a tiny space next to the charcoal canister which is above a metal plate that you cannot remove. Have to drop your spare tire and remove the heat shield to...

    2015 LR4 BRAKES

I currently using these rotors and pads. Installed in 2017; have somewhere around 35K miles on them with zero issues at all. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0027AISRI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1...

    Rotor wear advice

I was in the automotive industry way back and I've never seen real bedding in done. Time is money. Do brakes, quick drive and feel the petal. If its nice and firm after a couple of stops, its good to go. Get back, do another quick visual and get to the next job. So my guess is most shops arent...

    Rotor wear advice

Seems that these days, modern rotors arent built with extra material on them like they use to be. Couple of factors I think: 1. Weight savings (however minimal) 2. Manufacturers dont make money when you can turn your rotor three times vs having to replace them at every brake service. My .02 that...

    Bleeder screw replacement

-0. LOL. Sorry I was bitter when mine came apart because I knew it was plastic and was careful not to over torque...then it broke anyway.

    Bleeder screw replacement

I thought about all of the ideas above, but with the way the o-ring sits you would need to make a custom piece. Needless to say, I have that brand new assembly minus the bleeder screw because they dont sell it seperately.

    Water pump replacement

I've done it. If you are replacing the pump, replace the crossover pipes to. Used this video as a guide: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/diy-water-pump-and-crossover-pipe-video.30519/#post-189510 Watch out for the small 90 degree plastic pipe thats installed on the front of the pump...

    Low coolant. No leak?

Mine was always fine temperature wise. I never saw any coolant anywhere. I knew the water pump replacement was coming just based off of reading posts here, so when the warning light came on, I looked it over for anything obvious, then I topped it off and started ordering parts while continuing...

    Low coolant. No leak?

Mine did the same a while back. Nothing obvious that I could see; similar to cperez's symptoms. Topped it off with distilled water and went on my way. When I did my water pump recently, there was coolant on the bottom of the water pump so it was definitely leaking (82K miles). Just took a long...
