    Chrome interior trim

On my 2011 I've started to notice more and more of the interior chrome trim failing. First it was on one of the glovebox latches. Now I see on one of the rear door locks it appears the adhesive is failing and the trim is bubbling. I live in Phoenix so my truck is subjected to some pretty hot...

Micro-Start XP-10 jump starter - Tested, it works great

I have exactly the same issue. I actually attempted to contact them via email when I first noticed it, which was while my battery was still barely within warranty, and they did not respond. I had continued to use it and carry it inside the truck but I'm done with that now. It's been getting...

washer fluid - Doesn't work in the cold? Feature or Error?

It's one of my frustrations here in Phoenix that it is very hard to find cold weather formula washer fluid around town. It rarely get's below 32F here, but we go up to Flagstaff or Colorado often, and I'd like to keep at least 0F in the reservoir. The only way is to buy it up there.

Kuat NV Bike Rack (hitch mount) on LR4

Ah, yes I think you are right, heavy is normal and super is the extra. I would go with the standard 2" fixed rather than an adapter unless I had a 2nd car with the smaller mount. Unless you are carrying four extra heavy bikes, like 50lb downhill mountain bikes, I don't see a need for super...

    Frontrunner Roof Racks

I'm pretty happy with the longer one. What is driving you towards the short version? I carry kayaks/canoes and often a tandem bicycle on mine. The long version gives a nice long support and the front of it is somewhat accessible from the front of the truck, I'm not sure if the shorter version...

Kuat NV Bike Rack (hitch mount) on LR4

I have the 1up with 2 extensions for a 4 bike setup. I'd probably avoid getting the "heavy duty" unless you really know you need it. The regular seems very sturdy already and is also plenty heavy to get on/off the hitch at around 75 pounds in 4 bike mode. My only beef, and this is more of...

2012 LR4 18,000 miles replacing the breaks myself.

Are you specifically looking for EBC? Lots of options on Rockauto.

2012 LR4 18,000 miles replacing the breaks myself.

Changed the front pads this morning. This is I believe the 3rd set up front and I don't think I've ever done the rears. 75K miles and the rears still look at least 50% to me. I had planned to change the rotors, but stupid me I thought the rotors were sold in pairs like the pads and wound up...

Cooper Zeon LTZ Off-Road tires on Stock 19" Wheels

Just replaced my Zeons with Duratracs. I off-road a few times a year and never had any trouble with the Zeons, save for the piece of metal from a construction zone that cut through the tread. Duratracs seem slightly noisier but barely noticeable above the wind noise from my roof rack. For me...

HD Pack Locker vs. ARB aftermarket

My 2cents...I have the HD package and often watch to see when the locker engages. It does engage but I was surprised how much you can go through when it doesn't bother to. Personally, I think the LR4 is not really a "serious" off road vehicle to begin with...it just doesn't have the wheel size...

    Hi-Lift Jack storage options?

The Jackmate does it's job just great. It's not fancy but not expensive either, and works fine. It is a perfect fit behind the rear seats across the width...if I would have custom cut it the fit would not be better. Thanks again for the tip.

    Wheel alignments

I get off-road every other month roughly. My truck is 5 years old, almost through it's second set of tires, and has never had an alignment and doesn't seem to be in need of one (based on tire wear and how it handles). I'd normally do it with a tire change and probably will with the next set.

    Rattle coming from wooden panel

After living with an annoying rattle from the passenger door wood trim for years, I finally couldn't take it anymore. Planning a two week vacation starting in a couple days and didn't want to listen to this the whole way. It took about an hour to get the door apart and pull off the wood trim...

    Towing

Another nice thing about this setup compared to the regular tow adapter is that the hitch looks like it sits several inches higher. This is great if you carry a hitch mount bike rack like the 1up and go down rough roads. I'm always worried about clearance, and when I compare to other trucks it...

New to Me LR4 -Towing wiring - where to buy

To my knowledge the programming is needed to active that advanced features, which I think you only get with the "vision" package in a 2011 anyway. When I installed the wiring harness myself all the normal features worked fine, but I had to take it to the dealer to get the other features...

    Hi-Lift Jack storage options?

Hi Joe, thanks for your tip on the Jackmate. I ordered one and it arrived yesterday. Seems like it will do a good job of protecting the jack and protecting everything else from the jack. My backseat is usually occupied by two kids in car seats, so a couple of straps to attach the jackmate to...

    Front tow recovery hooks?

The easy answer is that you have much better recovery point right above the hitch, so there is no reason to use the hitch. That's an LR4-centric answer. In general, a tow hitch could be used as a static recovery point (e.g. pulling with a winch) but I wouldn't use it for a dynamic (snatch...

    Hi-Lift Jack storage options?

I hear you. I had a similar opinion...lot's of posers carrying around rusted hi-lifts on their jeeps...until a few weeks ago when I was on a fairly easy trail and ran across someone stuck sliding down the off-camber hill due to ice on the road. Several trucks were on hand and none of us...

    Hi-Lift Jack storage options?

I looked at the air jacks and decided they were not suitable for an LR4 due to the dual exhaust. I believe I'd read some threads where people had tried different methods to make it work but nothing looked very good. If you have a good air compressor they might work, but I haven't been that...

    Hi-Lift Jack storage options?

A bottle jack is, in my opinion, inferior to the hi-lift for lifting a wheel to place something (e.g. maxtrax) under it because you have to overcome the suspension, where with the hi-lift (and the wheel lift adapter) you can lift the wheel directly. This is my primary application for the...

    Front tow recovery hooks?

A few posts earlier someone had recommended using a tow hitch recovery point adapter. I just wanted to point out the limitation...it's hard to use the tow hitch with these trucks in off-road situations.

    Hi-Lift Jack storage options?

What are some of the ways people are carrying hi-lifts? I have found two options that might work for me (I don't have a bumper tire mount or any such thing...relatively stock vehicle): 1. I have a front runner roof rack, so I could attach it to that via the optional accessory they sell or...

    Front tow recovery hooks?

Of course, to use the tow hitch recovery D-ring, you have to install the tow hitch receiver, which severely reduces your departure angle on these trucks.

    Nav highway default screen?

Thanks! I found the option and turned it off. I've been putting up with this for years and never knew it could be disabled.

    Nav highway default screen?

I have a 2011 LR4 with the Nav option. Whenever I enter a highway it decides to put half of the split screen in the most useless mode...listing the upcoming exits and what is available at them. I don't know who decided this was a great idea but it annoys me endlessly to have to continually...
