When they introduced the paddle shifters and made 4L an option with the 2014 it felt to me like a clear sign they were sliding away from their adventure/off road legacy. Those changes made it seem like they were more focused on the on-road market.- danrhiggins

Like Umberto said. With my 2014 I missed having a place to rest my right hand. And, again, when you are on a trail and the steering wheel is spinning around and your shifting between S1, S2 and S3 in 4L it is much nicer to instinctively know where to put your right hand to quickly shift up/down.- danrhiggins

Had the 2014. Though the SCV6/8-speed was OK, in hindsight I would have appreciated the 400+ vs 340 torque. That was quite a drop though people will claim that the SC helped me at altitude (Denver). Running Winter/Snow tires in relatively warmer temperature areas
This thread got me thinking. I put the 285/60R18 Nokian Hakka 2 snow tires on my LC a month ago replacing the E-rated, 285/65R18 KO2s that I normally run. I get the sense that LR is chasing a market that was hot 5 years ago - when they were committing to the Discovery. But they were following makers who had designed their models 5 years ahead of LR. So what they are now launching is “me, too” rather than anything that innovative.- danrhiggins

LR4 vs LC - After 18 Months w/ The LC
I agree that the 2016 looks a bit better. Still, I prefer the look of the LRx and the earlier Discos to the more bulbous form of the Land Cruiser. (I originally named my what LC "Moby Dick" as it was more of a big white whale. But that was a bit harsh so I've gone with Yeti - a white beast.)...- danrhiggins

Cleaning out the garage and realized that I never did anything with the two (don’t ask) OEM hitch receivers I had for my LR4. One is practically new and has both keys. And there it is. 32"? I think I left that behind in my 20's! (And I'm almost 65 now.) So, no, the sunroof on my MY14 LR4 was not conducive to exiting the premises.
