LR4 5.0 Chain Guides actual problem?

Can anyone recommend a trustworthy repair shop to do the timing chain job in the metropolitan Philadelphia area? I'm willing to drive a couple of hours if necessary. Thanks Sergio 2012 LR4 with 109K miles

2011 Land Rover LR4 HSE transmission problem

How do you know it's the transmission? How many miles? Has it ever been serviced? (fluid change) Does it shift fine?

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

I've been using VALVOLINE MAXLIFE ATF DEXRON/MERCON fluid for at least 80-100K miles on both Mercedes without any problems what so ever. It's been in my LR4 for 13K miles and the tranny shifts extremely smoothly with no adverse effects what so ever. I'm also using it on my 2013 Mini Cooper...

    Engine air filter

I just replaced both air filters at 71K miles. They were slightly dirty and could've gone longer but since I had the new ones, they were replaced. My 2013 Mini on the other hand, with 45K miles, had an extremely dirty air filter (so much for the service performed at the dealership...)

    Brake Pad Light

When I replaced both front and rear pads AND rotors on my 2012 LR4 I don't remember doing anything with the e-brake and it still functions fine.

Are these OEM or > Quality Brakes?

I've used Textar and Pagid, both OEM for Mercedes, many, many times. Nothing against them but I absolutely love the EBC greenstuff pads and wish they were available for my Mercedes as well. Currently driving a 2013 Mini Countryman (LR4 is my wife's truck) and will get EBCs when the time to...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Or you could just fill the metal pan (prior to installation) with fluid and then pour it into the removed plastic pan and see if there's a level difference....

Are these OEM or > Quality Brakes?

There is brake dust. I've gone the route of using ceramic pads to greatly reduce the amount of brake dust on my Mercedes vehicles but it came at a much reduced braking performance cost which I don't want to compromise. I'd rather clean the wheels more often than get into an accident. Can't speak...

Are these OEM or > Quality Brakes?

I don't know but I can tell you I installed EBC greenstuff pads and EBC rotors and could not be happier. A little more costly but I wouldn't risk putting possible inferior products on a $55K truck. I can tell you I have NEVER driven an SUV that brakes as well as our LR4 with these pads and will...

    New battery: Sears?

The only problem with Sears is that they're on the brink of going out of business so you may not have warranty for too long.

    LR4 Headlights Flicker?!?!

I agree but I noticed more light EVERYWHERE than with the Halogen bulbs. Much more "useful" since I can see much better.....

    LR4 Headlights Flicker?!?!

Installing a relay wiring harness is very easy. Retroffiting an HID kit into a projector lens system such as the halogen projectors used in the LR4 will not negatively affect the beam pattern like it does in a reflector type system. I've done both and never had anyone flash their high beams at...

    LR4 Headlights Flicker?!?!

So if ryanjl is correct (and I have no reason to doubt him) then the solution would be to install a relay wiring harness for the lights so that power is drawn directly from the battery. I would push LR on this though because it's their problem, not yours....

    LR4 Headlights Flicker?!?!

Does it happen with both headlights or just one? Do you have halogen or HID (Xenon) lights? It sounds like a wiring issue to me; perhaps a poor connection.

    Tranmission help needed...

It sounds electrical to me. It may have a bad Neutral safety switch. Do you see any signs of transmission fluid on the bottom of the pan? If not, I doubt it's mechanical.

    Aftermarket hid/xenon headlights for LR4

I've installed the 55W H11 5000K kit from Kensun USING A RELAY WIRING HARNESS AND AN ERROR/FLICKER CORRECTOR and it works like a charm. Having a proper connection to ground is essential as it is the root cause of most electrical related problems. I used the passenger side H11 connector as the...

LR4 Transmission Fluid Change: Pan Swap Option

Just as an FYI. I've been through ATF fluid debates with at least two Mercedes Benz vehicles before. Same premise: only the MB approved fluid shall be used or your transmission will explode into orbit...blah, blah, blah... Someone on a Mercedes list contacted a Valvoline engineer who assured him...

    LR4 transmission issue or not?

BTW, as an owner of several Mercedes vehicles I've gone through countless hours of research about using "factory" transmission fluid or else your transmission will blow up. The majority of these factory fluids are nothing more than a good quality synthetic fluid. I've been using Valvoline Max...

    New Owner experiencing something weird

Well, when the engine is first turned ON and it idles, it makes an awkward "rattling" sound, as if something was wrong with it. A few seconds later (oil pressure builds up?) the sound improves and it sounds like a "normal" engine. I test drove another LR4 that did the same exact thing. We got a...

    New Owner experiencing something weird

Problem solved. It was a bad O2 sensor. I spoke with the service adviser and told him to have the mechanic look at the O2 sensor data (one of the short term parameters was all over the place when I hooked up my AUTEL scanner and monitored "live data.") but he kept insisting they had done that...
