Can anyone identify this slow ticking noise?

My 11 makes the same noise occasionally on cold starts when the outside temp is very cold. It’s been about two years since it started and the fan clutch still works fine.

numerous codes after lower control arms installed

I also just did front LCA’s and tie rods and right after the vehicle freaked out with faults. Drove fine up to about 15mph and would throw dsc, hdc, and suspension faults. My steering wheel was at about the 1 o’clock position. I had it aligned right away and zero issues since. As everyone else...

    Showoff Your LR4

That was after letting the wife go off by herself for no more than 10 minutes. The 12k winch made quick work of it, and I ended up driving through the opposite direction without issue.

    Showoff Your LR4

I cut the frame horns and am running 30cm over stock height using the Gap tool. I get slight rubbing at full lock on the front fender liners in standard height, haven’t trimmed the ~2” spot yet. Off road height is fine.

5.0 V8 Fueling and Efficiency Questions

I'm at 173k. I had to replace a burnt exhaust valve at 168k but it has been great since then.

IID Tool and control module firmware updates

I have an 11 and there was a firmware update for the instrument pack. The older LR4's have a grey background around the fuel and temp icons whereas the 2012 and ups are just black and white. I did the update and everything went fine but now the seat belt light chimes incessantly whereas it never...

    Tailgate Brake Light Plastic Faded

I think OP is referring to the high-mount brake light in the tailgate which is glued in place. Mine is faded as well, might try your idea of using a headlight restoration kit on it. If I get to it I'll post results.

Help needed : LR4 with a Range Rover engine cover?

Sounds almost like a pulley to me. My 5.0 sounded a lot like that when the tensioner pulley went bad.

5.0 V8 Fueling and Efficiency Questions

I'm averaging about 16mpg mixed driving using premium only. I just did head gaskets/timing and had the injectors cleaned 5k ago. I used Injector experts in OH and would highly recommend them, super quick turnaround time.

Tuffant Simpson 18" Alloys in Smoked Gray

The Nitto’s in LT load range are just over 1/4” larger than the Duratracs so you may have to deflate the spare more, and/or remove the exhaust heat shield.

Issues with Terrafirma hidden winch and SCV6

After looking at your pictures further I see now why just cutting the top wouldn’t work. Mine is a V8 and doesn’t have that charge air canister like the V6. If I had to do it again I would use the ProSpeed mount even though it’s 3x the price. I’ve seen a few V6’s with hidden mounts so there’s...

Issues with Terrafirma hidden winch and SCV6

I had this same issue. The Terrafirma mount is really made for an LR3 and those spacers were their way of being cheap and making it work on an LR4. I tried the spacers and it would have required chopping up more of my front bumper than I was comfortable with. I ended up cutting the top brace on...

    ASFIR skid plate experiences?

Not very good photos as it was snowing out so couldn’t crawl under, but the first one is the front and second is the back. The rear bracket is hard to see as the skid covers it. You bolt the brackets to the vehicle first, then attach the plate. The front bracket is offset to the inside of the...

    ASFIR skid plate experiences?

I have all of Asfir’s skids and the air tank one is the most straight-forward from what I remember. You should have two brackets that bolt to the main skid part with supplied flush Allen bolts, then two of the existing air tank bolts are used to secure the skid. My LR4 is at the shop right now...

Misfire after timing chain job 5.0

I was able to get the car started this evening. To answer your original question it idled correctly right away. I wouldn't think a bent valve would cause only camshaft correlation codes, you would be getting misfires as well. I had a burnt valve on cylinder 7 and was getting P0307 and p0316...

    Auxiliary chain

You have to pull the oil pan which requires removing the engine. Just went through this same situation and figured I’d change it while doing timing chains. After reading the workshop manual on removing the oil pan I decided I’d leave it be. Unfortunate since if it was just designed slightly...

Misfire after timing chain job 5.0

I can't answer that yet as I'm still putting things back together and waiting on a few parts. Possibly will be able to start it up this weekend if my injectors show up. Latest should be next weekend. I'll post back and let you know.

Misfire after timing chain job 5.0

The marks won't line up after 2 rotations of the crankshaft. I just finished doing timing on a MY11 LR4 this weekend and that threw me off as well. The workshop manual assumes you know a lot, and just says to replace cam locks and CKP tool to verify timing. I was freaking out thinking I messed...

    Engine Misfire

I was at about 150k when it started, am at exactly 168k when I started tearing it apart a few weeks ago. I ran a few bottles of BG 44k through the fuel system when this first started, used the CRC GDI Intake cleaner stuff, pretty much tried everything cheap before getting a leak-down test to...

Timing Chain and Head Gasket replacement TDC Question

I've just removed the RH head to have a valve job done due to a leaking exhaust valve on cylinder 7. I had an issue where the marks on the chain weren't lining up on with the marks on the VVT's, and after rotating the motor 20+ times decided to use the cams to confirm cylinder 1 was TDC. I...
