    Mine sounds similar like a deisel. I have not done the tensioners. I do have new fuel injectors though.

    i bought the generic LR4 one on ebay for $46 bucks and towed plenty for years (jeeps, firewood, etc..) I'm more worried about the Land Rover breaking than the tow hitch breaking.

    Mine had the same. The upper timing cover and valve covers were leaking oil. Also the vacuum pump was leaking oil.

    i'll test if the alternator is charging and i'll test the battery. interesting theory on the alternator in that it did have oil on it but cleaned off now that the leak is fixed surprised a faulty alternator would cause all those faults. seems like I should still have dash lights if it started...
