LR4 Newbie - We have problems!
Oh man...really glad I got to mine before it reached that point. But you’re right - you essentially have a new motor with the correct timing components. IMHO every single one of these motors will need those tensioners replaced or the motor replaced. 71k and mine were really, really bad.- Steven Phillips

At the risk of getting flamed for asking.. An Oil question.
Amsoil is certainly good stuff but I am getting hives thinking about those intervals. Have you ever done an oil analysis on 20k mile oil?- Steven Phillips

Does this 5.0 sound healthy?
I have a 2012 5.0 and in my opinion that car needs $5k in timing work. Mine sounded like that and I had the guides replaced and it’s totally quiet now. Just chiming in - I had the same experience with my 5.0 RRS. 71k miles it sounded like a diesel and had to have the timing chain tensioners replaced. I had to do the water pumps at 60k. Let's try to get the facts down on tensioner issues
1. Model year - 2012 5.0 NA 2. Known oil change history - every 15k on the dot until 49k, then every 5k (basically after I bought the car). 3. Odd Engine Noise part 2, with video!
Interesting they are telling you to do the timing chain...I thought the faulty tensioner issue was fixed by 2013? It does have the tell-tale rattle though (just at idle). Ticking nose or just ticking bomb?
The metronome sound isn’t the timing chains but that sounds just like mine did prior to replacing the chains, tensioners and blades. It’s that constant rattle. After replacement my engine no longer makes that constant rattle. Nearly silent.- Steven Phillips

LR4 5.0 Chain Guides actual problem?
You can add another one to the list. 2012 RRS N/A just got towed two hours away to Mid-Atlantic Rover in Columbia, MD. 69k miles...I was just starting to get the sound and decided to start researching the topic.
