    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

Easiest way is a socket, short extension, u-joint, long extension ratchet, all duct taped up firmly, in that order. Then lightly tape the bolt to the socket. Tighten, and tear taped socket off the bolt. Makes real quick work of it. Everything else is a big struggle unless you get lucky.

    Only normal Height Available.

Or throw all the parts at it in order, starting with the passenger front air spring (or check for leaks), front valve block, then the center, then the rear, then another pump. Eventually.... FWIW, a Launch Creader Elite JLR should also get all the necessary codes read. Properly read my car...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Nah. Someone else just posted that bought one with 200k on it. OP was a Facebook post that had 283k on it. But I did some new digging on Facebook Marketplace, and there is one in Alabama that gets close with 253,000 miles. At 251,000 it experienced a transmission failure and replacement...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Oil every 5k and chains preventatively by 100k. It's an interference motor, so you lose the timing chain or skip timing you trash the valves and lose the motor without warning. Personally, I would never rely on "noise". That's whistling past the graveyard. I might--might--rely on a...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Lack of knowledge. Same engine with two cylinders plugged off and a supercharger added. How is that possibly going to be a more reliable vehicle? All of the same maintenance needs and failure modes, with a few more glommed on top. On of top that, a ridiculous 0W-20 oil spec for a blower...

    Highest mileage LR4?

The only one with chains confirmed that went cheap was $10,000 after buyer premium, and was a 2010 with 127k on it. And the exterior was beat, and came with 1 key (a $500 problem for those who know). Still a steal, but it wasn't clear that the rear crossover was done since it was a dealer...

    Highest mileage LR4?

Chains are done. At least 10k. Wouldnt be surprised to see substantially more, up to 15k. No chains ruins them at auction, like it does every known chain issue car. Crossovers would add at least 2k. 200k isn't hard to get on these with "minor" preventive maintenance. My guess is they...

    Preemptive 80K mile service...

When it starts to smell like antifreeze... There no way to know, mileage wise. At 140k rear o ring gasket went due to plastic degrading. Front was like new, and I can't find a receipt that it was done in the last 75k. Probably usage/ heat cycle dependant, in part.

I also just did a very long write up which may be helpful on the first 4 items with part numbers, video links, and torque specs here: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/how-to-diy-2013-lr4-front-crossover-pipe-rear-crossover-pipe-water-pump-coolant-replacement.43821/post-247627

    Quick Tires Question

The size you propose is correct. Any larger can result in immobility if the suspension drops all the air.

    maintenance history since new 2013

Out of morbid curiosity, I went through the invoices. In hindsight, it explains a LOT about Land Rover's generally poor maintenance expense reputation. Huge amounts were billed for fairly routine, minor services, some potentially unnecessary. First, the dealer is charging $250 an hour for...

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

Or you can really play with fire and do what I did and buy an Amazon Warehouse pump for $60 that someone else returned and cross your fingers. It came in a bag that looked like it had been dropped from the back of a truck. The dessicant was spilled all over the place and making a mess. Hence...

    Control arm fail

He's probably using a local supplier. Some do mark them at 600 each. Tell him to mail order from AutohauzAZ or such similar place, let you BYO, or you'll go elsewhere. Can also order in MeyleHD from anyone for about $150. Mechanic you use is irrelevant. Easy job (for a shop) and gets...

    Batteries

Walmart Everstart H7 is now a China battery, FWIW. My H8 Everstart 6 mos ago was a USA, I believe. Either they changed suppliers or they source H7/H8 differently.

If you can, absolute best value out there IF you go private party and can confirm timing chain done on the V8. Most of the other repair items are fairly simple, so far as these things go. Whatever tools you buy, they're probably paid for and then some on the first modestly time- consuming repair.

    2013 LR4 Suspension Compressor

I used a Chinese pump and so far, it's been fine. Beware the desiccant, though. It was clay ball trash, which I suspect is responsible for many of the failures, along with the overall poorer design of the seals in the dessicant canister. At least swap the desiccant with good stuff, if not...

    maintenance history since new 2013

Beck Arnley for the $100 WP. Actually a decent brand. Springs for $500 are Suncore. Probably not great, but better than old broken ones. Rock Auto is about $800 for "known" brands. $250 pads and rotors are Detroit Axle (Chinese imports) or any number of brands from Rock Auto. Plenty of parts...

    maintenance history since new 2013

It's a 2011, but that's not really the point. Someone else claims to have paid about $25000 in 3 years on a 2013. Another guy paid nearly $3000 for rear rotors and a PS pump. I would have paid $7000 in a two months of ownership for minor/common things, most of which wouldn't be usual failures...

    maintenance history since new 2013

Nope. $6500 is what a good condition car goes for. Previous owner spent well over 10k in repairs in 3 or 4 years. Retail is 8k, trade under 5k. Lexus GX460 is about double. This is why. Dealers know. Don't get me wrong, I planned to do most of this anyway. Just not immediately. 4...

    maintenance history since new 2013

I can tell you what I actually paid since I bought the thing, and what I should have paid. Mind you, I've owned this delightful heap of junk for about 2 months, and bought it as a highly maintained car with chains already done. That said, it was a Land Rover, and I knew a lot would go wrong...

How To - DIY - 2013 LR4 - Front Crossover Pipe, Rear Crossover Pipe, Water Pump, Coolant Replacement

I just did this job, and then some. The video is helpful, but I was a bit surprised how complicated it made some aspects of the job seem. Overall, this job is about a 3 or 4 on a scale of 1-10 if you have the proper parts and if you are reasonably competent with tools. A 1 would be changing a...
