Huge thanks to this forum. Land Rover has as new home.

^This! We had our Santorini black Defender ceramic coated when new and it still looks amazing after 30K miles. With it's small windows, the Defender has more painted surface area than the LR4. With ceramic coating, rain actually cleans it rather than makes it look dirty. And after washing you...

    LR4 Binding Brakes

With weekly winter ski trips, the road salt definitely reduced the lifespan of my brake calipers. Especially the rears, that seemed to take turns dragging. I bought the AB brand calipers for $130 each: https://www.roverparts.com/brakes/calipers-cylinders-hydraulics-vacuum/SOB500042/...

    LR4 Binding Brakes

For me, cleaning only worked briefly. I went through the same aggravation and finally replaced all 4 brake calipers at 130K miles. Buy them at Atlantic British...much cheaper than OEM calipers. Problem solved.

When is it time to say goodbye?

I know...crazy times. Since when do new vehicles appreciate as soon as you drive it off the lot? If I didn't like my Defender so much I'd consider selling it for a $10K profit after one year and 20K miles.

When is it time to say goodbye?

People on the Defender forum with 1-year old Defenders are selling them for $10K more than the sticker price they paid. 2023 Defender orders started a few months ago so lots of demand from buyers that don't want to order and wait. Even Carvana and Car Max will pay you the new sticker price for...

When is it time to say goodbye?

No problems at all with our Defender. I suspect the robots in the new Nitra plant do a decent assembly job. Many early complaints were about loose A-pillar trim and the trim rattling in windy conditions. Or the dumb people that selected "update now" when notified of an available OTA software...

Be honest! What's the deepest snow you've driven in with your LR4

This. Snowed over 3 feet overnight at Sugarloaf, Maine. No problem driving though it with Nokian winter tires. Walking to the ski lift through the deep snow was an adventure.

When is it time to say goodbye?

I'm sure that helps but the Defender terrain response software is on an entirely different level of genius. (LR4 terrain response programming goes back to the 2005 LR3) There is even low traction launch mode and low traction cruise control. Or you can configure all the terrain response...

When is it time to say goodbye?

Having owned a Defender for over a year, I have finally accepted the unique styling. LR4 is just a classic, timeless design. And I really miss the load space of the LR4, I can see myself getting a 130 once they are available. Now the positives...on road handling is amazing. No idea how they...

single touch power all the way up on window

Do the same to the rear window buttons as well. Then when you push them once the rear window will open about 1/2". That 1/2" will let air flow out when you drive with the sunroof open. Stops that annoying air buffeting noise.

Any recommendations for snow tires for 20"?

I am a huge fan of Nokian winter tires and have run them for years. They were great at braking and turning the weight of our LR4's. Unlike other brands, the tiny sipes that work on ice run far deeper. I went with the Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV in 275/55/20 for the Defender...

Best way to sell my LR4?

I just sold mine on another Land Rover forum here: https://landroverforums.com/forum/market/ First person that contacted me bought it. I also had 2 other people contact me before I marked it "sold".

Selling our LR4 & Thank you!

No second Defender. Coming from the LR4, my wife hates the lack of visibility in the Defender. (and she's 5' 11" tall) It has taken me a while to get used to the Defender's short windows, big square rear pillars and rear mounted spare. BSM isn't all that reliable either. She's taken over the...

    Shopping for first lr

Just posted our beloved LR4 for sale a few minutes ago. We have too many vehicles and sadly we have to part with the oldest one with the most mileage, despite it being our favorite: https://www.landroverworld.org/threads/2013-land-rover-lr4-hse-lux.43405/

Selling our LR4 & Thank you!

How did 8 years and 137K miles go by so fast? Can’t believe it’s time to part with our beloved LR4. Kids are away at college, I now work from home and we have too many vehicles. Sadly, our favorite vehicle, the LR4 is the oldest and has the most miles. This was the best vehicle we have ever...

    Would you buy this LR4?

Back then there weren't many LR4's sitting on dealer lots. But you could easily order one exactly as you wanted it and delivery was about 8 weeks. We ordered our red LR4 in February 2013 and received it in early April 2013. Now it takes 4-6 months if you order a 2022.

Yes, I would buy that...great deal.

    Charging system fault

If your alternator is failing, it's probably because the passenger side valve cover gasket is leaking and dripping oil into the alternator. Mine was, which killed the alternator then I killed the battery getting it to the dealer on just battery power.

    Gasoline to use

It went from one extreme to the other. For years it seemed as if nobody monitored this forum. After having our request for a new Defender forum ignored for months, Defender owners all moved to a different Land Rover forum.

    Gasoline to use

My neighbor puts regular gas, any random brand, in her LR4 and her check engine light comes on frequently. I have always used top tier premium gas and never had my check engine light come on. (Frantically looking for wood to knock on) Not sure if cheap low octane gas triggers the check engine...

    Radio not working

Try a few restarts to see if it returns. Could be a blown fuse again. Any water marks on the cargo area headliner near the antenna? My antenna was leaking and had to be replaced, but the radio still worked. Could also be a weak battery. If the battery gets weak, all sorts of odd things...
