Have 46K on my Latitudes currently and can probably get another 4-5k or so. After much thought am probably going to get them again as well. Was leaning heavily toward the Nokian WRG2s, and would probably be very happy with them, but have been very satisfied with the Latitudes and given the cost...
Understood. On the global site, however, they are marketed as winter only...not all weather. Just interesting they aren't trying to convince the rest of the world the tire can be used all year.
Second set, that is a pretty good endorsement for the ATRs.
Have done some more reading on the WRG2s. Interesting that the Nokian global site does not market them as a 4 season tire, while the USA site does.
The Bridgestone Alenzas also get pretty good ratings on Tirerack.
Yeah, the Scorprion ATRs would probably be my other choice for a year round tire (western WA). Unless something else comes out, it will probably be between these and the WRG2s.
We have run the Hakka R's the last 4 winters and I need to get new winter tires as well. The Hakka R's were very quiet, handled well (not squirmy in truck ruts) and amazing in deep snow. No issues driving in 3 feet of unplowed snow to get to a ski condo in Maine. However, they are scary in deep...
Currently running Michelin Latitudes, which are okay except for the stiff sidewalls. Quite a bit of tread left at 35K when the OEM GY's were done at same mileage. Next set will definitely be the Nokian WRG2s. From all I've read a great all weather tire, especially for PNW weather. I've heard the...
Have had the Michelin Latitudes for about 2 yrs now and they seem to be wearing fine. Not a big fan of the stiff sidewalls. I see tirerack has another Pirelli listed now...the Scorpion Verde. May try the Nokian WRG2 SUV's for my next set.
Thanks for the info. Based on that and just wanting to get it checked prior to being out of warranty, will definitely get the rear diff fluid changed now.
Thanks for the info. I thought it a little strange today that the advisor didn't jump on the chance to change my rear diff fluid. Plus he said he would have to believe that Land Rover made a change to the rear diff since it was a known problem.
Yep, as of now there is no indication of a problem with the new rear diff (2 yrs old, 16K miles). I just wanted to have them open it up to make sure. I honestly don't remember when the howling started on the first rear diff. Figured there could still be a problem developing without me knowing...
Currently it is at the dealer. Am thinking I will take it to an Indy shop (there is a good one in Bellevue, WA I believe) and have them do a thorough check (60K service?) before the warranty expires. Seems like they would offer me a better deal. Dealer told me 60K was $850 today. Can't hurt to...
Got word back. Front pinion seal is the problem and being covered by Ford ESP. Advisor said it was about a 5 hour fix. Looks like I will recoup a little bit from my warranty at least. Had thought for sure if I purchased the warranty nothing would go wrong....and if I didn't purchase, of course...
Thanks for the response. Believe I will just take it in prior to warranty end and have them change the diff fluid - just to be on the safe side. It is in the shop today. Apparently there was a seal leak in the front diff. Believe they contacted Ford ESP and it should be covered. We'll see.
2006 LR3 HSE, 57K, HD Pkg
Had the rear diff replaced under warranty about 2 yrs ago at 40K. Had the howling sound and dealer described diff as having metal shavings and burnt fluild. Fast forward 2 years. I am getting near the end of my Ford ESP extended warranty...May 2012. Although have not...
If my memory is correct the manual does say the service dept can make a switch from auto to manual. However, I've asked for this to be done more than once and dealer states it is not possible. The manual is incorrect as far as I know.
Living in Seattle, would much rather have manual control...
I think a written list is a great idea, especially since you have multiple concerns. On more than one occasion my dealer has "forgotten" one of my issues during a service. This way when complete you can check the paperwork they give you and confirm each and every one has been documented on the...
Update: They are also going to replace the airbag cover on the driver steering wheel for the curling issue. It was minor (Seattle, garaged), but had definitely started. They pushed back at first stating they couldn't find the problem, but after I told them exactly where to look they agreed...
Yeah, that is the gamble of course. I know I'll be kicking myself 2-3 yrs from now if I've paid $2-3K for an extended warranty and never had to use it. On the other hand, it could save me a lot, just depends. My '06 has about 40K on it and neither of us use it for a commute. Haven't really had...
Thanks again for the advice. LR3 is currently at the dealership for its final "under orig warranty" work. Mentioned the transmission jerk again, which I had done several times before. This time, however, they are replacing the rear differential. My warranty expires 5/30. Just in time....
Have...
My warranty expires at the end of the month. Have not scheduled an appointment yet, but plan on doing so. Am also planning on purchasing an extended warranty (90% sure).
Any suggestions on taking the rig in? Figure they will just say "hey, it all looks great" but maybe I am too much of a...
