2002 Disco OBD-II Program

Hi all
I am just trying to do a bit of research for a friend of mine he has a 2002 discovery i understand that they run on obdII diagnostic ports for which i have the lead to link from the car to a laptop
I have a golf myself which uses a piece of sortware called vagcom which will read fault codes along with a multitude of other things
I am looking for the name of a piece of software to do the same sort of thing which will run on a laptop
i presume there must be somthing for land rover along these lines

I have an Audi A4 as my 2nd vehicle and I too use the VagCom. I believe there is a shareware utility to utilize our cable but I haven't gotten it to work yet.
Although I haven't spent too much time on it.

*** com should work fine on your A4 you will just need to download the earlier version of *** com available on the ross tech site
www.ross-tech.com

Dont try to use the latest version as it will not work
just trun the ignition on plug it in and away you go

I understand that OBDII will work but i also am lead to believe that landrover have there own version of this program but i havent got a clue what its called and is more in depth for falut code reading

All OBDII's are the same for the most part as they all must meet the same Federal guide lines. There will be some differences in the codes from one vehicle to another based on the options and features.

Could you be thinking of Testbook? It is entirely different and can do much more than read codes. It's also close to $10,000 US.
