Brake Interlock

Help! This evening my Land Rover left me stranded since it refused to shift out of park. I called LR and they suggested either a bad fuse or burned out brake lights. The customer service rep said that it was a safety feature to prevent driving without brake lights. I suggested I would feel safer not being stranded in a deserted parking lot. I tried replacing the fuse and substituting the rear fog light bulbs for the brake lights - nothing. I called a tow truck, had it hoisted from the rear but it refused to move. I realized that the front wheels were locked in but couldn't be unlocked unless the vehicle was in neutral. Is there a way to bypass the safety interlock on this to get it in for service?

you need to either replace or bypass the brake switch on the brake pedal cost around $40 dollars if I recall correctly. This is a common issue and I can't believe other than the dealer wanted to make more money that they did just tell you this.

you can jump the switch with will make the brake lights always on, but at least you can go... can't find the doc on this.. must be on my desktop at home
