Keyless entry help please.

Hello everyone, I recently purchased a used 1996 Discovery and I am having a little trouble. Whenever I press the lock button on my remote, the security system kicks in with flashing lights and the horn honking. When I got the vehicle, the battery was dead in the remote, so I replaced it. It worked correctly for about a week, and now it is doing this. Any ideas?

does it do the same thing when you use the actual door lock? I am guessing that there is a short somewhere, does it start immediately upon pushing the lock button? Does the unlock button shut it off?

possibly the inertia switch...push button on passenger side firewall to reset, sounds similar to the other post recently with hazard lights... just a thought.

One of the doors isn't closed / the sensor which tells the ECU the door is loose is broken? Mine flashes @ me + honks when I don't have a door closed and I hit the button. If you replaced the battery in the remote + it worked perfectly for a week then started doing it again, get a new remote and have it re-programmed.
