Okay, so these doesn't rate up there with global warming (that should read the "cost of petrol" for Rover owners) as a concern...but I have a couple of issues I haven't figured out and I get more learned answers here than from my dealer. For those with Park Distance Control (PDC), when one pulls into a parking spot frontwards against a wall, does your warning chime trigger? My front chime only gets triggered after I have reversed and then go forward as in parallel parking. Secondly, do owners find that the mpg calculator portion of their computer gives accurate numbers? When I fill up, I usually give a couple of extra clicks after the auto-shutoff kicks in and it seems full, but I invariably get 1.5-3.5 mpg better by hand calculation, town and highway, than the computer indicates at fill-up time. FYI, I get about 12 mpg (Imperial gallon) around town and 20-21 in highway winter driving. Thanks and ciao.

I assume you have a 2007... the PDC logic was "improved" (3rd revision) so it only activates when you stop/reverse (as you commented) -- too many people didn't like the false alarms. (The previous 2nd revision behavior kept it active at under 10 MPH or so, after some people complained it didn't activate enough with the 1st revision.)

If you want to force it on, just press the PDC button.

The MPG computer will be close in most cars, but it's always better to calculate it manually for true accuracy.

i usually turn the PDC off, but at least it is a manual override.

the mileage is sooooo bad i don't cross check the computer.

i am getting 20 litres per hundred km in this really cold spell when the heater is blasting like mad! so what the h#ll, spend $600 more than another vehicle - the ride is worth every cent imo!

LR4 parking sensor downgrade

I had an early 2006 LR3 and the parking distance sensors were always enabled (at least below a certain speed) -- and I liked it that way (i.e. rare to have false triggering). With the 2011 LR4, I have to either put it into reverse or manually enable it before the front sensors will work (as the manual says). This is very inconvenient with the LR4 and step backwards in my opinion. It was much better with the older LR3 (i.e. not having to manually turn it on when pulling into my garage).

It seems like it could have been made an option for those of us who liked it the old way (and the way that most other cars work with parking distance sensors).

2006 Parking Sensor Fault

Hello everyone,

I have a 2006 LR3 HSE. The parking sensors working all right. Then, one morning I got the message, "front parking sensor inactive". Now, neither the front nor rear sensors work. To complicate matters, I hit an object while reversing and one of the rear sensors is cracked just around the circumference.

Please, I will appreciate any suggested solutions to the two problems.
