Low Volume with iPod

Hello all! New to the board. I have owned my LR3 for exactly a week and have a question about using my iPod. Seems like I'm having a serious issue with the volume-as in I don't have any unless I turn the car's volume to the highest level!! Even here I get minimal output. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!!
