Hi,

I have a 300TDI 95 Discovery. I have had it for 6 months and done just 3k of its total 101 k miles. For`the first time I checked the TF oil level and on atking out the drain plug realised it was empty!!

I put in 2.5 l oil and next monrning found the majority of on the drive having leaked from the handbrake drum.

Today I replace the output shaft oil seal. I think it wen in too easily and maybe even too far. The fit was snug and almost well engineered rather than overly tight. I could get it in with my fingers with a bit a push.

I now find the oil is leaking again at the same rate having sdriven about 10 miles but also oil is leaking from the front ofthe TF box at a noticeable rate.

Question is.....do I need a replacement TF box or is the seal just fitted incorrectly?

Andy
