My LR3 was closed up for a month, unfortunately with a mouse inside. After eating my tissue box, in the back, and my insurance and registration cards, in the front, he appears to have died of hunger. I think his poor, dead SMELLY body is inside the dash board, above or behind or nearby the lower glove box. I think if I can remove, or drop down, that glove box I'll be able to give the guy a proper burial and rid the LR3 of his smell.

Any help would be appreciated on how to remove the lower glove box so I can see the area behind it.

Ahhh - so if I'd ever looked for the fuse box, I would have found the lower glove box just drops down once you pinch the hinges. Thats good - but no rodent there. If you were a trapped mouse, any ideas where you'd go to die in an LR3?

do you have a 7 seater? I have a nice sized void space right behind the second row in my 5 seater

Thanks. No 7 seater - and that space is where the tissue box, now shredded, was. No rodent there now - he's somewhere else.

Difficult to say...a small rodent can probably squeeze into lots of tight places, you name it, air vents, behind the center counsol... You might have to remove many parts to find it. Was your shredded registration card in the lower glove compartment?

Yep, remainder of registration card was in lower glove box, along with a *** of insulation-looking stuff. Smell seems to originate from front of car, that's why I'm thinking it was last in the dash before expiring. As hot as it is here in D.C. now, if I wait a month it will likely be so fried that it wont smell anymore - I guess I'll just keep using deodorizers until then.

I would take it to the dealer and have them carefully take apart the panels to find and remove the rodent. Last thing you need is for it to stay and rod in the DC heat. Can't be good for you or the car, not to mention the smell could stay for a while...

Sorry to highjack this resolved thread but I actually would like to know how to remove the lower glove box. I hope there isn't a special tool to get the plastic pins out. Anyone have any ideas? My handle busted on the old one and rather than taking it apart I ordered a used one and now need to remove the broken one.

Looks like it is not to hard from the parts diagram. I think you have to remove both the center console cover and the vent cover on either side of the door if it is the upper one and also the side trim if it is the lower one. There is a special hinge pin tool listed but i cant imagine one couldnt use a small punch or something to tap out the hinge pin.

You need to take out your cabin air filter, which is right behind the glove box. Once you lower the lower glove box by simply squeezing the side rollars together, it will drop right down. You will see your HVAC cabin filter housing right behind the glove box. Open the door to access the filter. Carefully take out the filter. I would not be surprised if the mouse and a bunch of yucky deitrus is sitting on your cabin filter. . .under your HVAC fan/motor.
