I recently purchased a used Land Rover Discovery II SE7 (or something like that). I looked underneath the vehicle only to discover a hole in the Torque Converter (I believe it is called that). The hole looks to have been sealed at one point as there are 3 screw threads.

Upon further research I learned that this is the Torque Converter Cover. I know some cars actually have a hole near the clutch for ventilation purposes. But, it seems like a hole like that is just asking for a rock to fly up into the Clutch and cause some serious damage.

Any thoughts? Should I order the cover? Will installing it cause the clutch to overheat and wear out prematurely?

Thanks!

The hole your talking about is covered by a sheet metal cover and is an inspection hole., if the sheet metal screw holes are there just buy another cover or make one, and install it. If it is broken, replace the bottom bell housing assembly, as this helps support the engine to the trans.

Good luck Chongo
