Winter wear and oil

Couple questions. Anyone use the wrangler mtr (old version 19s) for winter driving? Curious if I can run on them full time this winter. Have seen some reviews negative, Burrell the agressive tread can't be worse than the near slick Conti's.

Also, everyone ok with the dealers claim I need only change oil every 15k? Really having trouble believing that and lack of dipstick leaves me helpless to see oil quality.

I'm getting old, but seems to me the term "dipstick" refers to the way one used to check their oil level...now with the vacuum LR method, there is no "dipstick" to allow self assessment of the level and quality of the oil.
