Okay few days prior to that, some noise was coming from passanger front wheel.
It sounded like fan belt needed a replacement or something.

then on Friday, when i drove for like 50 feet, all i could hear was screeching of tire but car is still moving without lagging or resistance. It just sounds like you put sudden break or something.

No sign or warning went on.

i dont know it was just weird. didnt want to drive at all.

I will update once i get some info from the dealer.

Don't know if it is the same, but I recently had a lot of squealing from my right rear brake (why does EVERYONE spell it 'break'?). I figured it was time for new pads, and that I might as well do the rotors too since I'm at 60k miles. Bought the kit and put everything on, turned out I wasted a bunch of money because the rotors were fine and 7 of the 8 brake pads were fine. One of them was completely worn out and scraping against the rotor...stuck caliper?
Long story short, this might just be your problem...

p.s. anyone know how can you tell if your caliper is stuck - other than waiting for what I experienced? Everything seemed to move freely when I had it apart.....

Okay I just talked to the dealer and found the problem.
Its the wheel baring worn out or damaged so when it moves it makes the unplesant noise.

They don't have the parts and I have to wait for like a week or so.

Do you hhave idea how much its gonna cost?

I just bought my LR3 used, 2005, less than 24K miles. Had it less than a week and had to make a service appointment . . .

the problem . . . . system fault, transmission options unavailable (only option on the terrain response knobby was "standard mode".

the cause . . . . took them three days to figure out, clutch position sensor, t-case ECU module. Will cost $245 for the module, about $345 in labor.

Fortunately I bought the extended warranty (3 yr, 75K miles, bumper to bumper), so as far as I know, no out of pocket cost for me.

So discouraged!!!

Just went for 50000 miles service , after an oil change I was informed that front left wheel bearing, right tie-rod and front gear box is leaking....well i'm lucky cause i still on warranty and unfortunately when my lease expires no renewal with LR anymore...Unacceptable that poor reliability in 2010....

...Unacceptable that poor reliability in 2010....

Your definition of reliability is all wrong......Has it left you stranded? Did you tow it in for the 50k service.......While the quality of some componets may leave a little to be desired I have never been left stranded by mine. I also perform the maintenances on schedule as well....

Infact my rover has been better then my Chevrolet company rig which is an 06 with 92k on it know. Third set of tierods (30k & 65k They are starting to clunk again too), 4th header downpipe (I really don't understand the problem here), 2nd water pump (about 30k), 3rd battery (about every two years), and this is just what I can remember. One of the other ones had the front wheel bearings fail at approx 30k (both right and a month later the left) I still consider the chevrolet reliable it just has a poor build quality....

Actually it was the 40000 miles service, i've got an '07 LR3....Since I got it in july '07 the changed the starter, and I was lucky because that issue almost got me coming back to the dealer behind a tow truck!!! Already the right tie rod as been changed (2nd one is coming!!!), had to change something in the direction (it was stiff for an obscure reason...)...
I still think that these SUV are the best looking and the ride subtle....It just that I've been mostly on the road with it, I know what they can do since I attended an LR driving school, the off road performance is unmatched but how can the wheel bearings and tie rod are so weak when I use it mostly on pavement...And i am not the kind of guy to beat up his car...I guess I am a bit disappointed in LR, because now I have to consider looking somewhere else witch is something I didn't want to do...I have read manytimes about LR reliability and thinking so far that they were not that bad...but I guess I have to face the facts that the car critics I read about mostly states that they are nicely built cars but reliabilty always ends the last paragraph...

I still say that there is a difference between "reliability" and "quality". All the issues you mentioned are quality issues. I will also say that anyone that says anything about reliability that doesn't own one doesn't have a clue. Reliability is determined over time not over the week they have the rig for a review...

Agree with Ryan....but bad "quality" usually does lead to "reliability issues"

But...Land Rovers have nothing on GM for cheap quality....if you've owned an 02 Bravada, you know what I'm talking about.

Wheel bearings and TRE's are practically consumables. Do you think land rover makes their own?
