Any help would be appreciated..
2006 lr 3 v6

when i turn the vehicle off, everything starts blinking on and off. The A/c, lights, especially marker lights and door locks all activate for a sec then cut off and back on. All together though. Like someone playing with the door locks and lights. The vehicle only shows a park brake fault, but I have turned it on and off and the parking break works fine. The vehicle drives fine and no warning lights when it is on. But when u turn the engine off, everything starts to "blink" on and off again. Pain in the butt.. I bought the vehicle , but didnt have a manual. any helP>?

Sounds like a sensor or a short. I'll try and find some information. Don't park it in the garage, in case it decides to set itself on fire.

Several users have reported a fried alternator and in some cases a shorted battery. Some reported a burning smell under the bonnet (hood). Sounds like your problem.

I suggest the Interstate MTP-49/H8 72 month warranty. Usually around 175-200.00

Alternator you might find locally, or http://www.landrovermerriamparts.co...2010&callout=1&catalogid=1&displayCatalogid=0

Don't take my word for it, but that's a start.

Tail light / brake lights first.

Any help would be appreciated..

I know I sound like all problems are fixed by checking the brake light and tail light bulbs, but it seems that the 3 is guilty of crying uncle for the smallest of problems. It seems to do the darnest things for the smallest of problems. By the sound of it, the 3 is new to you and you it it.

As such, first see if all the tail / brake /reverse / signal light bulbs and high mount are working. This is best done by backing up near a reflective shop window so you can see how all works in park, reverse, and drive; also I suggest the front too so you can see how the high and low beam work as well as front and rear fog if you have them. With the USA spec you have four tail light filaments but only two brake light filaments.

I have put a link to my Gallery on disco3 where there is a jpg of the brake light circuit. if you study it, you will see the link between brake lights and hill decent control but not the park brake light. Also any burned out bulbs, do yourself a favour and purchase new ones from Land Rover. The OEM bulbs do not cost much more than off shore, but they make the world of difference. In fact, do not be afraid to replace all of them and if in doubt, remove all of them as part of the trouble shooting procedure. This is a $80,000 German Autobahn rocket masquerading as an English All Roads All World, All Rulers, Desert Arctic Patrol machine, and the little stuff matters. You will find on road, it gives Beamers something to chase, and a mile off the pavement, can crawl so slow that a snail gets bored. It will remain upright on slopes that will scare your riders such that they will become very still and very quiet.

Also does the key in ignition bonger work? If not, check 5 amp fuse F40P in the fuse box behind the lower glove box as if that powers the key bonger, (bad), and the park brake circuit, (good). What I am saying is that the oddest thing not quite working can create the darnest of problems.

Well I try to use both Imperial and Metric when posting distances, and fluid quantities. As for the name, sometimes the 3 is a D3 and sometimes an LR3; sometimes the steering wheel is on the left, sometimes the right. This is a world car so there can be local challenges.:frown:

You may wish to look in all of my Gallery on disco3. I have quite a bit of material related to my LR3 that is USA applicable, as well as the rest of the world. The ZF transmission material can be difficult to find locally - and thanks for the heads up.

Guess it worked.

Uh...I was just bustin' your chops.
There is a very nice Kennedy era picture of a nice young American lady exiting a Series Rover in my LR3 Miscellaneous section per the link below; that and a Defender in the Fog.

I noted a message on another board where an LR3 owner solved all this HDC etc problems by removing the tail/brake bulbs he bought at a big box store and by installing LR sourced bulbs. The comment was that the bulbs all appeared to function OK, but in spite of that, they were the source of the message concerns.

thx for the suggestions. I did find one bulb out on the front left side (the white marker light). I had the same problem before and never returned the battery cover. The last two time that it has done this is when I drove in the rain. Maybe some water got down into all the wiring behing the battery.
So today its all dried out and is back to working normally. If it does it again (esp in rain), I think its probably some wiring. I will get that white marker light fixed also.. thx again

Attached are some jpg's of the automatic transmission transfer case control module, something you never want to know anything about.

Land Rover in their usual genius located it where windshield rain/car/engine wash water can flow onto it The rubber seal things on top are only for decoration - the back is wide open. Some wrap the rubber seals with a bit of black electrical tape per what you see but that does not solve the rear is wide open concern. Yes, put your battery cover back on and be careful when washing under the hood.
