Since my last post I've had numerous other problems with the vehicle, but all of them have been fixed under original warranty by my local LR dealership, includijng:

  • New front and rear control arms
new bushings (old ones were cracked)
new front dashboard bottom part (old one was peeling)
new rear driver side speaker (old one was rattling)

There was a bunch of other stuff they fixed too, but I'm too lazy right now to pull out all the invoices from the last 4 visits to dealer over the past 6 months.

While there have been numerous problems with the vehicle everything was always fixed under warranty totally for free and I've even been given a loaner truck to use on times when the vehicle was going to be in the shop over 3 days. Prestige Land Rover in Paramus, NJ is G R E A T!!!!!!!!!!

60K mile service

Just purchased a 2006 LR3 SE (loaded!) with 52.7K miles. According to Carfax it was babied and had all prior "recommended maintenance" completed. Since 60K miles is just around the corner . . . I was wondering what that is going to cost me?

Tie rods were recently replaced and the car seems solid at this point. Although I do have the BONNET OPEN message and I found a solution to that in the posts here. Thanks for that.

Mine was about 600.00 at the dealer. I think that's average.

Maintenance

Yes the 60k maintenance will run you between $600 to $800 depending on where you go. Good luck

suspension height indicator light

I recently had brakes and rotors replaced on our LR3 after which the suspension height indicator light comes on saying normal height only after the car is put into gear and starts to move. It sounds as though it could be a number of things. I would appreciate any input.

I just replaced the control arms on my 05 and as soon as i drive it 100ft, i get suspension fault, special programs not availible, traction control fault. Im guessing I screwed up an ABS sensor as it only happens when i move. I left it running for over an hour and it was fine but as soon as i drive it a little it goes crazy. Its not the typical compressor problemas i just replaced that along with the battery. The only thing it could be in an ABS sensor or a wheel hight sensor. Any ideas??

You probably need to do a height sensor calibration, which will require a visit to the dealer or a Faultmate. If you have the factory navigation, you will see one of the wheels out of spec compared to the others.

I will check out the nav system and see what it says. Not very close to a dealership, mayber 150 miles away. Inconvenient.

Yes, its finally my turn.
Before purchasing the LR I did a lot of research and read about the minor nuisances and all other major problems, however I love the truck enough to see past all its minor defects.

I bought a '07 LR a few weeks ago and I love it. Right now I have 3 minor issues with the truck, the first one is the transmission hesitation described in the first page of this thread, the second issue is the rear passenger window, it doesn't work at all. And lastly, I've noticed a slight vibration on the car at around 50/55mph, it doesn't vibrate below or above that. Any suggestions????

I'll take the truck to the dealership next week and see what they have to say.

By the way the LR has 48k miles and its a '07, how do I know when the original warranty expires???

There are a lot of people on this forum that have far more experience than I. You've probably seen some of the debates that rage too.

From my experience buying an '08 LR3 with 30k miles on it:

The factory warranty is 4 years/50k miles - from inception, so when it was initially purchased from a dealership (sold). You need that to really know. However, based on it being an 07 with 48k miles I would guess it's out of warranty so look into an extended one to cover yourself.

The transmission hesitation that I had turned out to be a software issue. The dealership updated the software and my problem ceased. But that begs the question of what might happen down the road - no pun intended.

The vibration I had was in the 60-70 range, but sometimes began in the 50-60 mph range. That turned out to be excessive wear in the front and rear differential. The dealership found metal shavings in the fluid so replaced both differentials. After that, no more strange vibration - at least from the differential gear boxes.

Fortunately my factory warranty covered all these, and will at least until this January. By then I intend to have an extended warranty which I highly recommend making the investment in. Good luck!
