Want more insanity? Land Rover of Encino (another large local dealer, part of a network that owns a bunch of JLR dealerships in California) confidently adds $30,000 to the sticker of all new Defenders right now, which makes LR Pasadena seem like a pretty good deal by comparison, lol. They flat out told me (via email, at least they were nice enough not to trick me into driving there for nothing) that they don't know of any dealer not doing so. Say what you will about the practice, that's ballsy of them!
Basically, if you live in SoCal chances of ordering one of these vehicles at a price even remotely approaching MSRP are slim to none right now, unless you know someone who knows someone I guess. Might as well pretend the reveal never happened and wait a year or so, until the feeding frenzy has subsided a bit.
Also, Encino won't take deposits until they are actually "able to order them" (order books still aren't open to US dealers apparently), they will call you when you want to come down and order your $120K Defender which, in their estimation, should arrive some time next spring or summer.
Oh well, I guess they don't want my money right now. I remember purchasing one of the first RRS in the US back in the summer of 2005, off the dealer's showroom (LR of Pasadena), and I paid sticker back then - including for some overpriced accessories I really didn't want, but hey, I had to have that **** white Sport. These same folks sure got greedy over time.
