I have noticed from song to song that there is a bit of a difference.

Some of the older stuff that was remastered to burn to CD is lower than the newer stuff I have ripped in.

ANY clue how to take apart that center console? Rav appears to be MIA.

Yes, and FWIW I currently have an SE '06 loaner so I moved my ipod to it and the setup seems the same (line levels and such).

toddjb123, possibly some iPod models have higher output line-outs. Which model do you use?

Just bought the Flexible Dock adapter from Ten Technologies:

Works better than the Belkin (Belkin gave me an audible hum), and looks cleaner too! Volume level is still too low, however, even thout it uses the ipod line out. Nothing can be done about this until landrover issues a fix or you purchase one of the line level preamps suggested above.
