You could always import a series vehicle and set to work with a large bank balance, a couple of friends and a decent tool kit and make your own.

The Defender is supposed to be coming back to the States in 2007 as stated in articles in car magazines. But from the artist's renditions of it, I find the appearance very disappointing.

I took a look at that link and am now totally dissappointed if Ford screws up the defender like that. Also disappointing that they want to put a gasoline engine in it for North America.

According to last issue of LRE there are discussions about reintroduction of diesel LR in next 6 years..

They're also departing from live axles. And may be going towards independent suspension. The new Defender won't be as rugged and it appears to be geared towards the mall-crawlers group. So sad.
