diff won't go into "low"

My 96 Disco (automatic) will not shift into "low" for the diff lock. I am pretty sure this is because in it's former life it was a mall-bound grocery getter and has probably NEVER been shifted into low. I plan on doing some wheeling and would like to have the low working again--any thoughts on where to start--the lever won't budge. Thanks.

Yep--what Joey posted. Diff lock works like a charm now.
