Greetings All. I have a 1996 Disco 1, XD model. I have noticed that at idle, all lights flicker, even the little clock light. Once I step on the gas, no more flicker. It is very noticable but has always done it so I never really messed with it. Even the headlights flicker. EVERYTHING on the vehicle is factory OEM as delivered new in 1996. SO, should I replace with a bigger alternator? If so, what can you all recommend? Cheers!

Could it be a bad ground? Loose connection = poor connection, which, with increased engine rpms (thus, increased voltage) gets enough of an arc to give things the proper voltage...make sense?

Check grounds and battery connection before buying a new alternator...

I'll check and clean those tomorrow. I tried the foot on the gas thing but I started to smell this really funky metallicy smell. Is that bad?
