I'm in the TBD mode right now right at 40,000 miles. I'm getting a semi-clunk over potholes, almost always in cold weather though. It actually sounds more like a chirpyclunk. At first I thought it was the rubber grommet on the tailgate or something. Pretty sure it'll turn out to be the LCA though. I also didn't expect it so early. The arms in the LR3 I had lasted til about 70000.

The passenger side LCA rear bushing is usually the first to go. Look for signs of oil around the rear bushing, either wet or small drips.

Mine went way before 40k. At a guess, around 28k-30k miles. I off-road a lot and live in a desert where temps are brutal in the summer.

IMOP... when in doubt just replace them and go with the orange solids from Atlantic. I upgraded them this past summer with 85k on the clock and never looked back.
