I had this issue.

The latch is actually spring loaded with a little spring steel clip that keeps the shade hooked by squeezing it together with the counter hook.

That spring clip can be popped out. Then bent to squeeze tighter and put back in.

Mine has had no issues since I did it.

It take persistence to get the clip back in, so do not try it if you do not have the patience.

You need to pop out the light fixture and pop the headliner down a bit where the clip is to get enough room to work on it.
