has anyone installed the mantec front skid or know where i could find instructions.

This is the non-winch one sold by Mantec. The one that goes with the winch is also available on the owner info site.

Those links never work (for me, anyway) on that silly web site. Go to www.ownerinfo.landrover.com, select Discovery 3/LR3 and Accessory Fitting Instructions, press continue and search for "Undershield". Installation instructions for both plates should pop up.
