I personally would add some bars going horizontally (with reference to the second pic) as well, I've really appreciated the fact that I've had the extra bars.

I thought about it, but seeing as it is steel and not alum I am keeping my weight down. I put some plywood and jumped around a bit ( I am 200 pounds) and it held fine. I am not done yet so things could change, just wanna keep it under 100 pds.

Have you weighed it as it is now? I don't remember mine being that heavy, but that was awhile ago.

My bad, I didn't build it, but regardless...I can check the diameter for sure tomorrow (late here on the East Coast) but i think its gotta be in the ~1.25" range
