power loss

hi can anyone help with this problem i have 1997 range rover 2.5 dse auto its great plenty of power and runs excellent small problem when i hit the gas hard it excellerates then dies let foot of the gas and it comes back but you cant excelerate fast it does this eveytime but otherwise runs fine
