I've had the "Smart Key Not Found" message twice in the last couple of days when trying to start the car. My usual routine is to leave the key in my purse, and put the purse on the passenger seat. Never had a problem before. When I got the message, I was able to start the car by taking the key out of the purse.

I've had the car since October -- could it be that the battery in the key is running low already?

Sounds like you do need a new battery - try replacing it - it doesn't cost much and then see if you still have the problem. Good old, process of elimination.

I personally miss an old fashioned key. I mean, what's wrong with using a key? Talk about not having control over technology or creating a single point of failure. And this goes for all car makers.
