Actually you can clean a MAF sensor and it is pretty easy if you are careful. It is a sensitive piece; however, I can speak from experience, if you use the right technique and only use the correct products, it is easy.
Do NOT use carb cleaner on your LR3. Only use MAF Sensor cleaner only on the MAF sensor. Use throttle body cleaner only on the throttle body.
The MAF sensor is not as mysterious or as frighteningly fragile as some would have you think. It is fragile, but it can be handled carefully, easily.
