Update: so I negotiated a lot with the dealer (New dealer in town and really good!) They hot a new Factory complete engine for much less than expected. And a small contribution from the Insurance company, so wound up being about the same price as buying a salvage vehicle of remanufactured engine. Around $16k out of pocket. So I went with the dealer option for warranty, and will keep long, long term. Since I have upgraded or replaced almost everything over the last 20k miles, she will now be practically new. Brakes, fuel system, evap, suspension bushings, Trans, tires, etc. And with the body and interior in such pristine condition, I figure I am essentially getting a brand new '14, for half the cost.
Drove the Defender and loved it. Will definently get one down the road. And keep the 4 for my daughter.
Engine out friday, in 5 hours, body on! Hope to have running this week.
Warning to all...REPLACE THOSE FRONT AND REAR CROSSOVERS NOW!! DONT POSTPONE. You will have NO warning and only a moment's notice before something goes horribly wrong.
Still hoping and you who has had 3.0l SCV6 will contact me
