I'm brand new to the forum but have been on the RangeRovers.net forum for awhile now.
I'm installing the new Alpine CDA-9857 tomorrow in my RR. I'm just going to use the factory bezel(stereo plate). I'll carefully cut it to fit the new Alpine. I bought this HU because it is supposed to be the best one out there for an iPod. It also allows you to turn off the internal amp, so you can still use the door amps that are in the Rangie's. Don't know if the door amps come in the Disco's or not.
The factory stereo is a POS IMO. Mine is the Clarion and does not have any features. Probably because mp3's weren't around when it came out.
I'll get some pics up on this site to show how the install went. And also give some headsup on the sound quality as well.
