HELLO ALL,
I HAVE BEEN READING THIS FORUM FOR A MONTH AND HAVE LEARNED A GREAT DEAL OF INFORMATION. I MUST THANK YOU ALL FOR THE EDUCATION.
RECENTLY I HAVE DECIDED TO SELL MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND PURCHASE MY VERY FIRST LAND ROVER. I SIMPLY LOVE THE CLASS AND CAPABILITY OF THE LR4. I AM LOCATED IN A SMALL TOWN IN ONTARIO, CANADA, SO OPTIONS ARE LIMITED FOR ME. I HAVE NO LR DEALERSHIP TO WORK WITH. HOWEVER, I AM CONVINCED I MUST OWN ONE OF THESE VEHICLES, SO I WILL PURCHASE A VEHICLE AND HAVE IT SHIPPED TO ME. I RECENTLY TEST DROVE A 2012 FULLY LOADED LR4 WITH HD PACKAGE AND ALL, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE SOLD QUICKLY AND I MISSED MY CHANCE. I HAVE NOW STARTING THINKING ABOUT EXPANDING MY BUDGET AND POSSIBLY FINDING SOMETHING NEWER WITH LOWER KM. I UNDERSTAND THAT LR OWNERSHIP CAN HAVE ITS CHALLENGES, HOWEVER RELIABILITY IS HUGE FOR ME WITHOUT HAVING AN LR DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS IN MY HOME TOWN.
I REALIZE THAT MY QUESTIONS HAS PROBABLY BEEN DISCUSSED IN THE PAST, HOWEVER I WANTED TO ASK THE FOLLOWING SINCE SO MANY OF YOU HAVE BEEN WITH YOUR LAND ROVER FOR YEARS...
MY BURNING QUESTION: IF YOU WERE TO DO IT ALL OVER... IF YOU WERE BUYING YOUR VERY FIRST LR4, AND YOU HAD A REASONABLY FLEXIBLE BUDGET: WHAT LR4 WOULD YOU BUY AND WHY? YEAR? MODEL? OPTIONS? COLOUR? INTERIOR COLOUR? (I REALLY LIKE THE BEIGE LEATHER) MAX KM YOU WOULD RISK ON USED VEHICLE? ETC.
I LIKELY WON'T BE ABLE TO FIND A CPO VEHICLE... WHICH OF THESE VEHICLES DO YOU THINK IS THE MOST RELIABLE (LEAST AMOUNT OF POSSIBLE TIMING CHAIN ISSUES; WATER PUMP FAILURES; AIR SUSPENSION ISSUES; BRAKES; ETC).
AS AN ASIDE: IF YOU DIDN'T HAVE A FLEXIBLE BUDGET AND WANTED THE BEST 'VALUE' MONEY COULD BUY, WHAT LR4 WOULD YOU PURCHASE?
I LIVE IN NORTHERN ONTARIO AND HAVE THE ABILITY TO DO SOME OFF ROADING, HOWEVER WHAT I WILL BE USING THE VEHICLE FOR MOSTLY IS MY DAILY 10-15 MINUTE COMMUTE. I STILL WOULD LIKE THE ABILITY TO DEAL WITH THE INTENSE WINTER WEATHER (DEEP SNOW) AND MUD / OFF-ROADING. I AM UNLIKELY TO DO ANY ROCK CRAWLING OR ANYTHING ADVANCED.
I REALLY DO LOVE THE REDESIGNED FRONT END OF THE 2014+ MODELS, HOWEVER I DON'T KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THE V6 SC.
