Why not the best of both? I use an air mattress in the back (LR4) and attach a Napier Backroadz tent off the rear hatch/tailgate. If it's just me, that tent space makes for a great sitting and gear storage room and if I'm with others, well, it sleeps 3/4 comfortably in the tent while I'm in the truck.
