Hi all

I would like to get your opinion on Land Rover Discovery for 2000 to 2002 model. I am wondering if you can recommend if i should get one and what i should about the car.
Please help me to make the right choice as i understand they can be pricy to fix the car. I have also non-dealer mecanic that i always use to help with the car.

Any pointers?

Thanks and happy holidays

I certainly would recommend any Discovery 2000 or newer. Very sturdy and well built vehicle. After driving one you will wonder how you drove a lesser truck. If you can spring for an 03 or newer, they have the 4.6 engine vs. the 4.0 in the earlier models.....it's a noticeable difference in power. Also the brakes were drastically improved in 03 and 04. Also free maintenance is included in an 03 or newer no matter where you buy up to 50K miles or 4 years.

Also, there are differences in trim levels. for 2000-2002, I believe there were SD or SD7 (2 jump seats in rear). SD's were base models...duragain interior, no leather and base sound system. SE(7) and HSE(7) have leather and improved stereos and 18 inch wheels vs. 16's.

Happy shopping.

I like mine, then again, my I only drive it a few miles a day. I'd get tired of driving that thing around all the time though. If you are going to put a lot of mileage on it, you will be spending far too much money on gas and on maintenance. And that's IF you don't get a lemon. If you do, you'll be in for quite a ride... But it's great as a second/part time car, and it's a real tough truck. The body is stronger than on any other SUV that I can think of (except for the Hummer, may be, but I'd take the Rover instead). It's also the most luxury and steel you can get for the money, used ones are cheaper than any other comparable SUV on the market.

I recently just bought a 00 Disco II. Love it. It did come with the 16 inch wheels but as you can see here I upgraded to the 18 inch wheels that the 03's came with. I did made a mistake on buying these BFG's. I heard they are not that great. I'll buy some Michellins next winter. Goodluck with your purchase.
