Can I buy specific parts for the hitch receiver?

I took mine apart recently (I'll post that in another thread) and I need a new green handle (mine is cracked) and a new main gear (the shaft that the green handle is attached to).

The green handle is cracked from forcing a stuck gear.
The gear is damaged from my gorilla handling (turning it manually with a pair of vice grips).

Thanks!

I have not seen a lot of these used, but when everyone trades in their LR3s for LR4s they should pull out the receiver and sell it used here!

Seriously, they never take all those accessories into account when they value your car. Pull it all out. You're selling an engine with a pretty shell on it...

So. Parts for the hitch receiver. Anyone know where I can find that gear?

So I'm not quite clear, did EVERY LR3 come with the receiver as standard equipment or was it an optional accessory? My new to me 07 didn't have one...

When I was shopping for my 06 HSE, I saw "Towing Package" in the description of some models, so I'm betting it's an optional accessory.

Yes, the towing package is an option. Or you can just buy the receiver. (towing package includes the wiring harness and maybe some extra transmission cooling or something...I forget).

I'm pretty sure every LR3 already has a place in the frame for you to slide in the receiver, though. Which is $400-$500, depending where you buy it.

To add to these questions: Does anyone know the part number of the 'plug' that goes in place of the receiver hitch when the hitch is removed? I've seen it on newer LRs but don't have one on mine. I think it's either red or orange.

I don't know the part number, but I just had to buy one for my LR4 because it fell out. They are kind of tricky to get locked in there, but it's good to have to keep dirt and stuff out of the channel. The good news is, it was only about $10... Your local dealer might even keep a couple in stock, because they fall out easily if you don't get it just right. I think the whole towing arrangement in the LR 3's+4's is an expensive pain in the ass..

You can buy a normal hitch from etrailer.com for about $200, however the install labor is obviously higher, and I'm pretty sure you can't have a fullsized spare with the aftermarket hitches... It would, however, get you a normal hitch and I don't think it sits any lower than the oem hitch. You are probably looking at $300+ for a used oem hitch. I don't think internal parts are available for oem hitches...
