Cheapest way to replace lost key fob?

I know this is an old thread, but for anyone interested in the topic in the future. I bought a blank key from a dealership in michigan for just over $200. I had my local honda dealership cut the key for me (they actually cut 2 blanks and I keep one under the vehicle in case I lose the fob and...

    AC went out!

Thanks for the response. So, I got a quote from the mechanic. They want to replace the a/c compressor, condenser, receiver dryer, expansion valve, rear expansion valve and flush the system. He says the compressor is in fact seized up. Total cost for parts and labor is $3500. Parts total is...

    AC went out!

My AC just went out about a week ago. Started with a ticking noise, and then a clunk the next day, and then no A/C. I suspect the compressor is out (140k miles on an 05 LR3). The shop agreed it was the compressor but also says that because it is a clutchless system, that there is a...

Time to get a new key - WA/OR area

Yeah, I paid $213 for my key, that was cut from LR. It sure is nice to be able to save $120 on the programming fee. ;)

Time to get a new key - WA/OR area

Just a quick update on my Key FOB issue. More recently my only FOB was losing its battery contact. So, I initially purchased an extra uncut key from an ebay seller who sells remotes for less $ ;)... I have been working with GAP Diagnostics and their IIDTool. We were unable to get the keys to...

Fault on LR3 2005 - Diagnostic "Reduced Engine Performance

Depending on where you live, purchasing a code reader may be a good idea. I'm 200 miles from the nearest dealership so I picked up a IIDTool. So far it's working great for reading and clearing the codes so I can at least diagnose the problem.

Time to get a new key - WA/OR area

Yeah, I was watching one at $99 that the seller says has not been programmed. I just saw another one pop up at $89 +$4 shipping but I need to email him to see if it has not been programmed. If the blade doesn't come out easily, I wonder if the local dealership can still cut with it attached to...

Time to get a new key - WA/OR area

Right now I don't have an extra FOB. I need to pick up one off of ebay and find someone local to program it. As of now, it'll be my backup to access the vehicle in case my only FOB gets lost or craps out. I figure if I have key access to the vehicle I can at least tow it myself rather than...

Time to get a new key - WA/OR area

Success! Ok, I ordered a $12 key blade off of ebay from the UK. Took it to the local locksmith but his sidewinder wasn't able to cut the key because it was too narrow (he had an older machine). I then spoke to a friend who works with the local Honda dealership. They just purchased a...

Replacing the Rear Differential Control Module

I had the Transmission Fault come up on the dash with the parking brake light, stability control light, HDC not available etc... I took it to the dealership and their T4 yielded the error codes P186D-00 in RDCM and U1A4A-68 in VDM. They said I needed the rear differential clutch actuator...

Replacing the Rear Differential Control Module

Got it! Works fine now. I loosened the bolts and then tightened them by hand only, then turned the ignition to on and off a few times. The first time, it reproduced the buzz sound again and stuttered, then it didn't do it anymore. I crawled underneath and re-checked the bolts and they were...
